Waxman Textile Prize '17

Talking Textiles

Dorothy Waxman Textile Prize is the annual international design contest, held in NY, which is awarded to a textile or fashion design student who exhibits innovative thinking and inspiring creativity in textiles. The Dorothy Waxman Textile Design Prize honors Dorothy Waxman, the original driving force behind Trend Union and Edelkoort Inc. in the United States and contributing reporter to the magazine View on Colour, Textile View and Viewpoint. Waxman’s insatiable curiosity and discerning eye for the avant-garde has inspired Edelkoort and her team for decades.

Antonina Sedakova was chosen one of the 17 finalists to participate in the competition for her unique printing technique in the  Menswear Collection 'Communication Tube'. The Jury picked 2 favorite pieces - trench-coats from Look 1 & Look 6, and later on, they were presented at the 'TALENT!' exhibition in Brooklyn, as a part of New York Textile Month from September 21st – October 1st.
